The Exploration of Void series is an introspective look into the self and the feelings of emptiness that we sometimes feel inside. Through this series, we explore ways that the self finds meaning to sustain its journey through life.
Joy Boy signifies our endless pursuit for comfort through the material, as a means to fill the emptiness we feel deep within our hearts. We toil tirelessly to gain the power to purchase the objects of our desires, yet it is this very effort that adds a strain to the self.
The material acts as our source of motivation and fuel. Joy and warmth radiate from the core and spreads throughout Joy Boy, giving him the protection needed to fight the humdrum of life.
Yet all too soon, this energy is depleted.
Joy Boy must continue his quest to attain the next object of desire to keep the fire burning — or risk falling prey to the growing emptiness.

FROM THE JOURNAL
QUESTIONS COLLECTORS ASK
-
An art toy is art in the medium of toys. It always blends a grown-up topic with a childhood element. At Atom Toys, that topic is the void: the emptiness we carry, and the small joys we use to fill it.
-
Every piece ships with a numbered certificate matching its edition number, hand-signed by the artist, and carries its own serial number. You can always verify a serial number with us by email.
-
Yes, we ship worldwide from Finland. Shipping cost and delivery time are shown at checkout. For orders to the United States, email or message us first and we will confirm the rate.
-
Prices include VAT for orders within the EU. Outside the EU, VAT does not apply, and any import duties or local taxes are paid by the buyer on delivery.
-
Some pieces are fixed, final editions: once they sell out, there is no restock. Others are made in small batches, so more may come. Ask us if you are not sure which applies.
